Our staff are fully
vetted, and key persons qualified, each bringing unique skills
and experiences to the setting. They work closely with each
other, the child, parents and management to ensure that the
nursery is running to the highest of standards. All of our
staff are valued and committed to extending their knowledge by
attending relevant training, which includes First Aid; they
have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. Staff are
always on hand to support and provide activities, resources
and equipment. Children are encouraged, which enhances their
self-esteem and allows children to explore their world and
meet their potential with confidence in themselves.
KEY
PERSONS
Shared care
·
A key person meets the needs of each child in their
care and responds sensitively to their feelings, ideas and
behaviour.
·
A key person talks to parents to make sure that the
child is being cared for appropriately for each family.
·
A close emotional relationship with a key person in the
setting does not undermine children's ties with their own
parents.
·
Careful records of the child's development and progress are
created and shared by parents, the child, the key
person and other professionals as necessary.
Early Years Foundation Stage :2.4 Positive
Relationships
Lexden Lodge Kindergarten
operates a key
person system. Each child will be placed with a keyperson who
will be responsible for monitoring, assessing and individually
enhancing their development, in all areas until they leave the
nursery. This allows parents to develop a special relationship
with the person who is mainly responsible for their child,
although other members of staff will still work with them, and
will help your child to take full benefit from the wide range
of activities available within the nursery. Your child’s key
person will work with you and your child to make sure that
what the nursery provides is right for your child’s particular
needs and interests. When your child first starts at the
nursery, your key person will help your child to settle and
form a close, supportive relationship with them throughout
their time in that room. This person changes, of course, as
your child moves through the different age groups, when they
will be introduced to their next key person for the new
room.
RECORDS OF ACHIEVEMENT
Lexden Lodge Kindergarten
keeps a record of
achievement for each child, which your child’s key person will
update, share and involve you in. To do this you and she/he
will observe regularly, and collect information about your
child’s achievements, interests, needs, and preferred
activities. When staff and parents work together in collating
the child’s record it is an opportunity for nursery and
parents to celebrate working in partnership, for the benefit
of the child. This information will enable the key person to
follow your child’s progress, and development. You and the key
person will then collaborate on how to help and plan for your
child to move on to the next stage. Your child’s record helps
us to highlight her/his achievements and to work together with
you to enable learning situations that your child needs for
her/his well-being and to make progress.
