THE CURRICULUM

Children start to learn about the world around them from the moment they are born. The care and education offered by Lexden Lodge Kindergarten helps children to continue to do this by providing all of the children with interesting activities that are right for their age and stage of development. The early years are guided by The Early Years Foundation Stage (from September 2008) - a framework that helps us to recognise and expand on the individual and diverse ways that young children develop, and supports staff in providing the planning tools needed during this very important stage. 

Signing

There are strong indications that signing offers babies, toddlers and young children a non-verbal means of communication that gives them the opportunity to converse effectively with less frustration. This method of communication also serves to support those children learning English as an additional language. To facilitate this, we train all regular Kindergarten staff to use a form of signing, which offers all participators strong foundations for a lifetime of language development.
